Standard I
I. Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity
Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments.
a. Promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness
b. Engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources
c. Promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students’ conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes
d. Model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments
Reflection
Teachers must continue to learn, even after they complete their course work or degree. Attending workshops or training activities will keep teacher credentials up-to-date and teacher certifications valid for the next school year. They must keep their method of instruction as current as possible, while adding any new and exciting techniques they can find to their arsenal of teaching. Students, with access, are now beginning to learn at an early age how to use technology to research interesting and exciting things. Tools such as a blog can be used to promote students ideas, reveal some of their thought processes that teachers can use to nurture, and successfully teach ideas to their students. Creating lesson plans not only assists the instructor with classroom activities, but can be a guideline for parents to use to assist and take part in their students learning process and education. Creating course sites for the class, that parents and students can visit for updates, lesson plans, grades, or any special scheduled events, will allow for pre-planning and avoid unnecessary last minute changes for events or lessons. Using all three artifacts can only enhance the learning and teaching processes for instructors, students, and parents.
I have listed the three artifacts I believe demonstrate my understanding of Standard I: my lesson plan, Weebly course-Creative Kids, and Weebly Blog for ITD 645.

My future goal
My goal, if I become a teacher, is to give students a collaborative learning experience. I plan on aquiring as much knowledge and as many tools as possible to teach students in a wide variety of ways that will keep them engaged, and excited about school. Once students and parents are fully vested in the learning process, I believe it should be the instructors mission to maintain, and continue to nurture that curiosity.
